Baxter Cardiology Devices help Physician Manage High-Volume PC-Based ECG Workflow

Dr. Feiner, a cardiologist at South Orange County Cardiology, shares his experience with the Diagnostic Cardiology Suite (DCS) ECG unit, Baxter’s PC-based ECG, and Q-Stress Cardiac Testing System. Performing over 80 ECGs daily, Dr. Feiner and his team required equipment that was reliable and easy to use. To meet these needs, they standardized their diagnostic cardiology equipment to DCS ECG system as well as upgraded all stress systems to the Q-Stress System.

Dr. Feiner emphasizes the simplicity of the DCS ECG system, noting that its comprehensive reporting feature eliminates the need for extensive post-study analysis in his practice. Dr. Feiner stated, “capturing an ECG with DCS is quick* and intuitive; the VERITAS algorithm identifies arrythmias and provides great insight for reviewing the ECG study.” In Dr. Feiner's opinion, this shift marked a significant improvement from the previous system, which was not only cumbersome but prone to frequent repairs due to excessive wear and tear on the wiring. By transitioning to the DCS ECG unit with its wireless acquisition module (WAM), Dr. Feiner's team experienced increased ECG capture efficiency, and reduced clutter and repair costs.

In addition to its ease of use, Dr. Feiner appreciates the advanced features of the DCS ECG unit, including straightforward ECG reviews, the availability of calipers, and a robust suite of functionalities that were absent in his previous system. One of the most significant benefits, according to Dr. Feiner, is the ability to save, share, and print ECGs in PDF format, which greatly enhances data accessibility and presentation. "As cardiologists, having a professional-looking ECG report is crucial when sharing and reviewing it with other healthcare professionals," he remarks.

Although Dr. Feiner initially anticipated some resistance from his colleagues when transitioning to the new system, the adjustment period was short, and the entire team quickly embraced the benefits of the DCS ECG. The practice is now fully standardized on the DCS system, improving workflow efficiency and ensuring that all team members can access and review ECGs across multiple devices. The integration of the Veritas algorithm, the WAM, and seamless EMR documentation has further streamlined their operations, enhancing patient care by enabling remote access to accurate ECG data.

Dr. Feiner recommends the DCS ECG and Q-Stress systems for their ease of use and advanced features. The devices have helped improve patient care and workflow efficiencies within his practice. “With the ability to store ECGs within your portal, the system is robust and user-friendly,” he adds.
